Welcome to Lake Hills!

Our Mission

The LakeHills neighborhood association fosters real-world community in a digital age. We are building connection through neighborhood events, while helping residents stay informed, involved, and heard in the city policies and services that shape our lives.

Meet the LHNA Board

President

Steve Kasner has been a Lake Hills resident for over 30 years, with a longstanding commitment to community service. During this time, he has served on the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association board and as a member of the East Bellevue Community Council.

His focus is on ensuring residents have access to the information and resources they need to live well and stay connected within the community.

Vice President

Lauri Deaton-Grein is a longtime Bellevue resident (since 1963) with a career dedicated to public service. After working as a nurse, she spent 25 years with the Seattle Police Department as a 911 operator and dispatcher.

She currently serves as Vice President of the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association and is active in the 48th Legislative District Democrats, focusing on civic engagement and community organizing. Her recent work includes organizing for the “No Kings” rally on the 28th and producing 1,000 free custom buttons for attendees, as well as leading button-making activities with youth at community events.

Board Secretary

Cynthia Cole, Secretary of the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association Board, has been a Lake Hills resident since 1991. She is an avid gardener with a passion for growing flowers, vegetables, and herbs. Cynthia retired from The Boeing Company after a 32-year career as a flight test planning and systems engineer, contributing to a range of aerospace projects.

Treasurer

Alex Hay has lived in Bellevue since 2003 and in Lake Hills since 2013. He is the owner of Photon Manufacturing / Laser Fantasy, a company that designs and builds laser projection systems for planetariums, science centers, and entertainment venues. He also consults as a principal engineer in electronics and optics, drawing on 30 years of experience and a BSEE from the University of Washington.

Outside of work he enjoys skiing, cycling, sailing, photography, and live music. Alex shares his home with two of his own dogs and an ever-changing collection of fosters.

Mindy Garner

Mindy Garner is the recent past-president of Lake Hills Neighborhood Association and has been running it and the annual picnic for many years. She’s also a Realtor® with Coldwell Banker Bain in Bellevue, and loves working in Lake Hills, the best place to live on earth and Mindy’s home since 1996. Mindy is founder of ElderMove Alliance LLC, a team of people who help seniors downsize from homes they have lived in for many years.

Betsi Hummer

A Bellevue native and longtime Lake Hills resident, Betsi graduated from Sacred Heart School in Clyde Hill and Bellevue High School, and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Seattle University and an MBA from the University of Puget Sound. Her career was spent in retail lumber sales at her family’s business.

Betsi has been deeply involved in local civic life. She was elected to the East Bellevue Community Council in 2014 and reelected twice, serving four years as Chair and helping guide policy, legislation, and land use decisions in Lake Hills. Betsi joined the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association Board following changes to state law affecting community councils.

Betsi has also participated extensively in City Hall meetings and community engagement efforts across Bellevue. She is a graduate of Bellevue Essentials and the Bellevue Citizens Police Academy, and currently serves on the Police Advisory Council.
